Green Energy Investment

To save on operational electricity usage, the company prioritizes the purchase of office equipment with energy-saving or environmental certifications. In 2024, in response to the office relocation, the conference room projectors and screens purchased all have eco-labels or ENERGY STAR certifications, with a total cost of approximately NT$1,355,600.

For example, a display with ENERGY STAR certification can reduce electricity consumption by approximately 2,689 kWh annually compared to the regulatory requirements, which accounts for about 1.7% of the company’s total annual electricity usage.

Since Taiwan currently lacks relevant energy regulations, the calculation is based on the energy standards set by the California Energy Code in the United States.

Renewable Electricity Usage and Emissions Reduction

The Company actively supports the government’s renewable energy and net-zero transition policies. Starting from August 2025, renewable electricity has been introduced at the Company’s corporate headquarters as part of our efforts to enhance the use of low-carbon energy across our operations. As of December 2025, the Company has consumed a total of 12,000 kWh of renewable electricity, demonstrating our concrete actions toward energy transition and greenhouse gas emission reduction at the operational level. In addition, the Company has obtained 12 renewable energy certificates, corresponding to an estimated carbon reduction of approximately 5,688 kg of CO₂e, which is equivalent to the annual carbon sequestration effect of approximately 206 trees. Looking ahead, the Company will continue to evaluate opportunities to expand the use of renewable energy, while integrating energy efficiency and carbon management initiatives to steadily advance our decarbonization pathway and long-term sustainability goals.

【Notes】

  1. Electricity Emission Factor: Based on the electricity emission factor for FY 2024 as announced by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, set at 0.474 kgCO₂e per kWh.
  2. Carbon Sequestration by Trees: Referenced from data released by the Forestry Bureau, Ministry of Agriculture (March 3, 2010), assuming that one tree absorbs approximately 27.5 kgCO₂e per year on average.

Portfolio Company with Green Energy Investment-Tetanti AgriBiotech Inc.

Tetanti’s research team possesses over 8,000 strains and 2,500 species of functional microbes that can provide optimized custom enzyme combinations for various organic waste types, using its core TTT® technology with targeted enzymes. Combined with equipment, organic waste can be converted into organic fertilizer within three hours.

Organic waste, which can be converted into organic fertilizer, is the only source of soil organic matter and a carbon sink material. However, it often gets mixed with garbage, leading to incineration or landfilling, where carbon dioxide is released back into the atmosphere instead of being properly processed to assist in solving global carbon reduction issues.

Tetanti’s TTT enzyme technology is a new method pioneered in Taiwan in recent years, using enzyme formulations in specific equipment to produce organic fertilizers and apply them to soil carbon sinks. The process retains organic matter content, helping governments and enterprises reduce carbon emissions from waste treatment.

Common organic waste disposal methods include incineration, landfilling, and composting, which emit CO₂e of 450, 475, and 750kg, respectively, per metric ton of organic waste treated (according to the OpenLCA Nexus database). In comparison, Tetanti’s waste management technology results in greenhouse CO₂e emissions of 50 kg per metric ton of organic waste treated. While these values may vary depending on specific facility conditions, the estimated overall carbon footprint of CO₂e is less than 100 kg. Tetanti reduces CO₂e emissions by 350 kg per metric ton of organic waste treated compared to traditional composting methods, achieving a remarkable 78% reduction in carbon emissions.
